Terms of Service

1. Services Offered

Painters Edmonton provides professional residential and commercial painting services in the Edmonton, Alberta area, including but not limited to:

• Interior painting (walls, ceilings, trim, doors)
• Exterior painting (siding, trim, decks, fences)
• Cabinet refinishing and painting
• Color consultation
• Surface preparation and repair
• Specialty finishes and techniques

2. Estimates and Quotes

Free Estimates

We provide free, no-obligation estimates for all painting projects. Estimates are based on:

• On-site inspection of the property and surfaces to be painted
• Scope of work as described by the client
• Current material and labor costs
• Standard industry practices

Quote Validity

• Written quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue
• Quotes may be adjusted if material costs or project scope changes
• Final pricing is confirmed in writing before work begins

Changes to Scope

Additional work requested after the project begins will be quoted separately and requires written approval before proceeding. This includes:

• Extra rooms or surfaces not in the original quote
• Additional prep work for unforeseen damage or conditions
• Upgraded materials or specialty finishes
• Color changes after work has begun

3. Payment Terms

Payment Schedule

Our standard payment structure is:

• Deposit: 25% upon acceptance of quote and before work begins
• Progress Payment: 50% at project mid-point (for larger projects)
• Final Payment: Remaining balance upon project completion and your satisfaction

• Cheque made payable to Painters Edmonton
• Credit/Debit card (processing fees may apply)

Late Payment

Payment is due upon completion unless otherwise agreed in writing. Late payments may incur a service charge of 2% per month (26.82% annually) on overdue balances.

4. Warranties and Guarantees

Workmanship Warranty

We stand behind our work with a 2-3 year workmanship warranty covering:

• Peeling, blistering, or flaking due to improper application
• Defects in surface preparation
• Coverage issues or missed areas

Warranty Exclusions

Our warranty does not cover:

• Normal wear and tear
• Damage from moisture, water infiltration, or structural issues
• Damage caused by the client or third parties
• Color fading due to UV exposure (exterior surfaces)
• Cracks or movement in walls or substrates
• Issues arising from failure to follow recommended maintenance

Product Warranties

Paint and materials are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. We use premium brands (Cloverdale Paint, Dulux) with comprehensive coverage.

5. Cancellation and Rescheduling

By Client

• Before Work Begins: Full refund of deposit minus any materials already purchased
• After Work Begins: Payment due for work completed and materials used, per the original quote breakdown
• Rescheduling: We accommodate reasonable scheduling changes with at least 48 hours notice

By Painters Edmonton

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule due to:

• Severe weather conditions affecting exterior work or safe access
• Unsafe working conditions or property access issues
• Client non-compliance with these Terms

In such cases, deposits will be refunded in full or rescheduled at your convenience.

6. Client Responsibilities

Property Access

You agree to provide:

• Clear access to all work areas before our arrival
• Electrical outlets and water access as needed
• Secure parking for our vehicles and equipment
• Safe working conditions free from hazards

Preparation

Unless included in your quote, clients are responsible for:

• Moving furniture, decorations, and valuables from work areas
• Removing wall hangings, curtains, and window treatments
• Covering or protecting items that cannot be moved
• Securing pets during work hours

Utilities and Conditions

• HVAC systems should be operational for proper paint curing
• Maintain temperatures between 10-30°C (50-86°F) during and after painting
• Adequate ventilation as directed by our team

7. Our Responsibilities

We commit to:

• Arriving on time and working professional
• Using drop cloths and protective coverings
• Thorough surface preparation and priming
• Application of agreed-upon number of coats
• Daily cleanup and final site cleanup upon completion
• Proper disposal of paint waste and materials
• Compliance with all applicable building codes and safety regulations

8. Liability and Insurance

Our Insurance

We maintain:

• $2 million general liability insurance
• WCB (Workers' Compensation Board) coverage for all workers

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Alberta law:

• Our liability is limited to the total amount paid for the specific service
• We are not liable for pre-existing conditions or damage not caused by our work
• We are not responsible for damage to items not properly secured or disclosed
• We are not liable for consequential, indirect, or incidental damages

Client Insurance

We recommend clients notify their homeowner's insurance of painting work. We will provide proof of insurance upon request.

9. Materials and Color Selection

Paint Quality

We exclusively use premium-grade paints from:

• Cloverdale Paint
• Dulux

Color Selection

• Final color approval is the client's responsibility
• We provide color consultation services
• Color samples should be approved in writing before work begins
• Colors may appear different under various lighting conditions - we recommend testing samples
• Once paint is applied, color changes will incur additional charges

10. Timeline and Delays

Estimated Completion

Project timelines are estimates based on normal working conditions. Actual completion may be affected by:

• Weather conditions (exterior projects)
• Discovery of unforeseen substrate issues
• Changes in project scope
• Material availability
• Extreme temperature or humidity

Weather Delays

Exterior painting requires specific weather conditions (temperature, humidity, precipitation). We will not compromise quality for speed and may reschedule as needed.

11. Dispute Resolution

Good Faith Resolution

We are committed to customer satisfaction. If issues arise:

3. Most issues can be resolved through direct communication

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Alberta.

12. Health and Safety

We comply with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations:

• Use of low-VOC and environmentally responsible paints when possible
• Proper ventilation practices
• Safe ladder and scaffolding procedures
• WHMIS compliance for all materials

If you or any household members have chemical sensitivities, respiratory conditions, or are pregnant, please inform us before work begins so we can accommodate your needs.

13. Privacy

Your personal information is protected under our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

14. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of modified Terms.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
